Hiking in the Val Venosta cultural region
If you ask the ‘Piris’ what they like to do best, you will get a lot of answers. Yet, despite their many favourite pastimes, it’s surprisingly easy to find something they all have in common: Being outdoors! That hits the nail on the head. And it’s no wonder: After all, the sunny west of South Tyrol, the Val Venosta Valley, is an open invitation to hiking and mountaineering.
Why, you might ask? With 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s just too difficult to stay indoors. There are countless hiking trails and ‘Waal’ irrigation trails to be explored, lots of peaks and pristine alpine pastures await hikers and mountaineers at the foot of King Ortles with stunning views and authentic cuisine, and there is so much to choose from that no two days are the same.
It’s a good thing there’s the Jagdhof hiking hotel. Because when it comes to hiking in Val Venosta, they are the real pros.
